Isn't that the point?

I get at least 2 emails from CPSC (Consumer Product Saftey Comission) each day with items that have been recalled.
I guess I was in a snarky mood when I read this one...
"The Gymboree Corp. Recalls Toy Swords Due to Breakage and Laceration Hazard"
"Laceration Hazard" - Isn't that the point of a sword?!?!

LOL. I know it's a toy and not supposed to cause any REAL damage. just kinda struck me as funny.


Lots of things on my plate this week/weekend. This week we had our bi-monthly den meeting. This weekend we have the cubscouts raingutter regatta race & chili cook off. Today to prep for it I gotta gather my chili ingredients and make my chili powder. We also have a birthday saturday night, derek wants to go to the new braunfels air show saturday also, i just don't know how we are gonna fit it in. Sunday of course is football.


Cole's tooth finally came out wednesday.

Not on it's own accord I assure you. He just turned 4 and is way too young to be loosing that tooth. I guess this is what happens when 1 4 year old and 5 7-9 year olds play in a pool. One of Alec's friends knocked him in the mouth and the tooth came loose. It looked fine (the incident happend a couple weeks ago) until saturday when it started moving and sunday it was bleeding. his dentist said there was no saving the tooth, so now Cole will be toothless till the adult one comes in, which will be about 2-3 years. I gotta figure out how to re-create teeth in photo shop now for our christmas card pic. His new nickname is "Rocky". :D

Things to do before my next birthday....

Weeelll... doesn't give me a whole lot of time. My birthday is next month, 9/18.

1. Finish some of the projects I have floating around in my head. (and use the fabric that is floating around on my dining room table!)


2. Paint my kitchen. I have the colors and everything picked out. Just need to do it. We can't afford to completely re-do it yet, but a few gallons of paint we can swing.


3. Get over my fear, buy some canvas and paint something. My mom & her sisters were all awesome artists. Whenever I see the paintings they did when they were kids I am totally inspired.


4. Find a house for my friend Kasey & her family out here.

Things I would like to do before my next birthday (2008)

1. Visit my friend Jodi who lives in Indiana (or get her a plane ticket to come visit Kasey & me!)


2. Decorate more in the house


3. Do more volunteer work


4. (hopefully!) Get pregnant. :D

I am sure more will pop up as the days progress. I always adding to my to-do list.

Well, the acquisition of a new laptop has stalled. Only for the time being tho. The reason why is aggravating, and I really don't want to re-hash it. Bottom line, my dearest just doesn't think I know what I am talking about. never mind that I have been researching this since April/May. ugh! well, off to run some errands, Target, Bath & Body Works & 2 mystery shopping assginments that I have to get done today. (yippie!)

So I am moving back...

I had to leave blogger because I was having too many problems with it not jive-ing with my browser so i went to wordpress, which worked fine for a while but then I started having problems too. Spent too much time on the phone with tech support, thought it was fixed, but alas no. I started another blog here, for my culinary addiction (http://cookingsgoodforthesoul.blogspot.com/) and it has been working well for me so we will give it another go. So far so good. I'll start transffering posts from my wordpress blog here in the next day or so. If it proves too daunting of a task, i'll just move the pictures.

So I am a single mom this weekend. Derek left for California last night to go visit his brother who is turning 30 on monday. Last night the boys got a treat, McDonalds for dinner. After they were ready for bed I turned on a movie for them (Night at the Museum) and played in my room for a while. I worked on a few projects, started on some outlines for some new classes I am teaching & started assembling the kits. Today I have Alec cleaning his room (well he is supposed to be anyway) Cole playing quietly in his room, and I am in the middle of laundry and more creating. When I have something done I'll post a pic.

What did I accomplish today?

Of my to-do list today I got done:


Call Dr.'s office to make yearly un-pleasant appt. (but the office was closed today so i have to call back tommrow)
Clean downstairs bath (we just put the sink and toilet back in after finally installing the tile)
vacuum dining room/hall area (DONE!)
Clean scrap stuff off the dining room table (almost done, just have to bring some things upstairs)
The usual kitchen cleaning + sweep and mop floor (ok, 1/2 way done, swept, but didn't mop. i have playgroup here tommrow so cleaning it tonight is just pointless)
Try to restore some sort of order in my office/scrap room (note: need very large trash bags and willingness to get rid of items not used in a long time) (yeah right. like i will accomplish this any time soon!)
and if all gets done, work on dividers for recipe box I am making for my mom... (put off till tommrow. rather play with the youngest tonight and spend time with my hubby)

not too bad.

Today was a good day...

Thursday, our usual Scrapbooking Stay At Home Mom's Playgroup. Everyone got here around 10:30 and left shortly after 3:00. I (amazingly) got 5 pages done! The kids were great! (as usual).
It just seemed like everything was coming together today. Earlier this week was so chaotic for me, I just didn't think was gonna be ready in time for today. I was sick for most of Wednesday and spent most of Monday and Tuesday running errands. But miraciously this morning I got the back yard cleaned up, (poop and took care of fire ant nests) got the downstairs straightened up & vacuumed, kitchen cleaned, counters wiped, dishes washed, cleaned off the dining room table, I even made banana chocolate chip muffins with the super ripe bananas I had sitting in the fruit bowl on the counter! All before 10:30 this morning! I am impressed with myself!
Alec just got home from school, while he works on his homework I am gonna sit and see if I can get even more pages done.
Ah! I just remembered I gotta figure out what we are gonna have for dinner tonight! I have not planned one single thing! Looks like I will be studying Rachel Ray instead!
