Restruant, The Wine Cellar

I went last night with the ladies from our Supper club (part of our mom's group)
The restruant was on reccomendation from Cathy, one of the members of our supper club. She had gotten a bottle of wine from there for our last supper club dinner. (it was wonderful!)
So we all went for a night out with the girls last night. Good food, good wine, good conversation. When I walked in the door I just thought, this is it. This is what I like a restruant to be. It's small & cozy. The "kitchen" right off to the side of the restruant. just one range, 2 chefs. a chest level counter top is the only thing that seperates the diners from the kitchen. and there is wine, oh, there is wine! We all enjoyed a bottle of "Cat Phee on a Gooseberry Bush Sauvignon Blanc"
We all giggle a bit at the name, and enjoy the bottle with our platters of cheese and fruit appetizers. A great selection of cheeses, Brie (a tasty standy), some wonderful smoked cheddar, manchengo, mild swiss, and a (my friend Ashli's favorite) sofened herbed cheese. Was it a goat's milk? I can't quite remember. fresh handful of grapes and some tart granny smith apple slices that go perfectly with the brie.
For dinner my friend KK and I had the seared tuna with sauteed spinach, roasted potatoes and some yummy vegetables (a combo of green beans, and squashes). Everything seasoned perfectly. Tuna cooked to perfection. Still nice and pink in the middle. Spinach (along with a very nice light creamy sauce)was the perfect addition to the tuna. It's so easy to ruin tuna, but this was perfect.
It was a special menu for father's day. I really want to go back and try the duck breast with the cherry sauce.
The prices are great for the quality of food you get. You cannot beat $15 for a fillet!
This is definatly a favorite restruant of mine here in Texas!
